EPS believes that environmental problems cannot be solved without the participation of the private sector and technological innovations; traditional environmental approaches cannot keep up with expanding ecosystem destruction, species decline, pollution and degradation of our natural resources.

Robert H. Sulnick's, unique environmental credentials include having been an environmental lawyer representing victims in the Bhopal India Union Carbide gas disaster along with residents living adjacent to toxic waste dumps in both Casmalia and Fullerton California; being the President of No Oil Inc., and the co-founder and CEO of American Oceans Campaign (AOC) he played critical roles in stopping on shore and off shore oil drilling in the U.S. As the Environmental Director for the Eight Northern Indian Pueblos and Campaign Chair for the Alliance for Rio Grande Heritage in New Mexico he worked to ensure Native American environmental rights and sufficient water for the Rio Grande River ecosystem. Coupled with his understanding of the legislative, judicial and administrative/regulatory processes, this experience offers clients a comprehensive understanding of how to develop and respond to the issues surrounding environmental technologies and services.

Like Sulnick, Gary M. Petersen has an extensive environmental background which has proven invaluable to clients. He was the Chair of Green Seal, in Washington D.C., Co-chair of the Industry Advisory Board for the Environmental Media Association (Hollywood's environmental organization), a member of the “Greening of the White House” task force, a founding board member and Chair of the Mountains Education Program, co-founder of the California Resource Recovery Association, a founding board member of the National Recycling Association, founding member of the Cousteau Society, Heal the Bay Board member and was instrumental in establishing USA Green Communities a nonprofit working with California cities to improve their sustainability practices and reduce green house gas (GHG) emissions.

Ultimately, representing environmental technologies requires a successful market development approach. EPS has a long history of: connecting environmental technologies to private markets, government markets (municipal, state and international), and negotiating market entry and expansion.

Sustainability

EPS has been involved in sustainable design and building projects since being founded in the 1990s including: sustainably designed housing developments, green building designs incorporating energy and water conservation measures, the US Green Building Council's LEED program

Media Relations

EPS has an established media expertise, which includes: representing clients positions on radio and television, writing op-eds and Letters to Editors (LTEs); editorial board visits and strategic media planning. A successful environmental strategy requires the use of both traditional and social media campaigns.

State and Federal Legislation

The evolution of any environmental technology is ultimately determined by the laws governing those technologies. A thorough understanding of those laws and how they could be changed to further technological development is the essential starting point for evaluating the success of any environmental technology.

Oil

EPS has represented clients on oil-related issues since the 1990’s. This representation has included stopping off shore oil development on both U.S. coasts, stopping Occidental Petroleum from drilling 60 to 100 oil wells adjacent to the Will Rogers State Beach in Pacific Palisades, California

Conversion Technologies Development

EPS, working for Los Angeles County, was extensively involved in promoting the development of conversion technologies in California. Conversion technologies (gasification/pyrolysis/anaerobic digestion), unlike incinerators, do not burn waste. They are non-combustion thermal, mechanical, and biological processes.

Environmental Stewardship

Successful representation of environmental technologies and services requires a sophisticated understanding of environmental stewardship and how to integrate it into a business plan. Understanding environmental technologies in the context of politics, stakeholder participation and permitting is essential to success.

Coalitions Building

We believe that companies/clients who deal solely within the existing formats and processes of regulatory agencies, without an "outside" strategy, are operating at a marked disadvantage. It has been our experience that coalition advocacy (including media relations) offers clients this kind of outside strategic approach

Renewable Energy

EPS since its creation in 1997 has been involved in representing renewable energy technologies including solar energy, electric vehicles and EV fast chargers. Water Resources

EPS has a long history of working on water issues related to marine ecosystems, coastal pollution, riparian ecosystems, river, watershed and wetlands restoration, and seawater desalination. We were retained by Poseidon Resources (Surfside) LLC to work on permitting the company's Huntington Beach facility.
