Coalitions Building
We believe that companies/clients who deal solely within the existing formats and processes of regulatory agencies and legislatures, without an "outside" strategy, are operating at a marked disadvantage. It has been our experience that coalition advocacy offers clients this kind of necessary outside strategic approach.
It has been our experience that coalition advocacy (including media relations) offers clients the kind of "outside the box" strategic approach capable of breaking through the otherwise insulated behavior. In other words, coalition advocacy creates the kind of third-party "spotlight" on behavior capable of assisting the emergence and development of environmental technologies.
Throughout the years, EPS has successfully created and run diverse coalitions including environmental organizations, businesses, NGOs and government in favor if its client's environmental technologies and practices. Exemplary of this was
The coalition we put together for the passage of California's re-refined used oil law (SB 546) consisting of the Sierra Club, Californians Against Waste (CAW), the Western States Petroleum Association (WSPA), the California Chamber of Commerce, Evergreen Oil and independent oil producers.
Orange County Water Independence Sustanabitly & Efficiency (OC WISE) a coalition advocating for the development of all forms of local drought proof water for Orange County including: conservation, wastewater recharge and recycling, stormwater capture and seawater desalination. OC WISE membership among others consists of: League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC); California Business Federation ( Biz Fed); William C Velasquez Institute (WCI);Orange County Young Democrats (OCYD); Orange County Black Chamber of Commerce; Chapman University Democrats; Huntington Beach Chamber of Commerce; Cal State Fullerton Democrats; Association of California Cities Orange County; Millennials for New Water (UCI); Poseidon Water; Building and Construction Trades Council; South Orange County Economic Coalition and the Orange County Realtors Association.
Ultimately, representing environmental technologies requires a successful market development approach. EPS has a long history of: connecting environmental technologies to private markets, government markets (municipal, state and international), and negotiating market entry and expansion.
EPS has been involved in sustainable design and building projects since being founded in the 1990s including: sustainably designed housing developments, green building designs incorporating energy and water conservation measures, the US Green Building Council's LEED program
EPS has an established media expertise, which includes: representing clients positions on radio and television, writing op-eds and Letters to Editors (LTEs); editorial board visits and strategic media planning. A successful environmental strategy requires the use of both traditional and social media campaigns.
The evolution of any environmental technology is ultimately determined by the laws governing those technologies. A thorough understanding of those laws and how they could be changed to further technological development is the essential starting point for evaluating the success of any environmental technology.
EPS has represented clients on oil-related issues since the 1990’s. This representation has included stopping off shore oil development on both U.S. coasts, stopping Occidental Petroleum from drilling 60 to 100 oil wells adjacent to the Will Rogers State Beach in Pacific Palisades, California
EPS, working for Los Angeles County, was extensively involved in promoting the development of conversion technologies in California. Conversion technologies (gasification/pyrolysis/anaerobic digestion), unlike incinerators, do not burn waste. They are non-combustion thermal, mechanical, and biological processes.
Successful representation of environmental technologies and services requires a sophisticated understanding of environmental stewardship and how to integrate it into a business plan. Understanding environmental technologies in the context of politics, stakeholder participation and permitting is essential to success.

EPS since its creation in 1997 has been involved in representing renewable energy technologies including solar energy, electric vehicles and EV fast chargers. The firm is familiar with all aspects of ensuring the emergence of these energy saving technologies including market development, governmental Affairs for Recycle America, and Gubernatoria:
With more than forty years experience building and running recycling businesses, EPS is exceptionally well-positioned to assist California based companies, companies seeking to do business in California, as well as jurisdictions with all recycling, reuse and source reduction issues. The recycling expertise EPS offers its clients is comprehensive.
EPS has a long history of working on water issues related to marine ecosystems, coastal pollution, riparian ecosystems, river, watershed and wetlands restoration, and seawater desalination. We were retained by Poseidon Resources (Surfside) LLC to work on permitting the company's Huntington Beach facility.
With the ever-changing nature of markets, environmental laws and regulations, environmental technologies need expert representation. Environmental Problem Solving Enterprises (EPS) is dedicated to providing that representation through many different structured strategies capable of navigating: laws, regulations and interest group opposition.
